Meet the founder

From a family of stylists to a salon of his own.

Masa grew up surrounded by hairstylists. After training and working in Japan, he moved to Australia to deepen his experience with a wider range of textures, highlights, and curly hair.

He came to the United States in 2014 and opened Kuniya Hair in Midtown East in 2018 — bringing Japanese technique into a distinctly New York space.

“The most important thing is to make clients happy.”
